Mefren Colorless-to disinfect designated from superficial lesions of the skin such as scratches, and to disinfect small wounds such as skin micro cuts. Mefren-Colorless is also designated to disinfect the skin before surgery, before injections or before placing a probe.


Chlorhexidinum gluconicum 0.5 g - Isopropanolum - Aqua qs purificata ad 100 ml.

Posology and method of use:

Mefren-Colorless directly or with a sterile swab to disinfect or compress on the application site. Try to ensure that the liquid is not running to or accumulates at the height of the pressure zones or body folds of the patient. With a strong moisturizing effect to the skin should be degreased before disinfection.

Hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine or isopropanol. Do not apply on open wounds or eczematous lesions. Chlorhexidine should not come into contact with the inner ear. Mefren-Colorless should therefore not be placed in the external ear canal in cases of suspected or proven perforation of the eardrum. Like most antiseptics may Mefren-Colorless not in contact with the opinions and the brain. Special precautions:

Pregnancy and lactation:

Mefren-Colorless can be used during pregnancy and during lactation. However, caution is recommended in conditions that promote the absorption of the product (see 'Pharmacokinetics') and this especially during the first 3 months of pregnancy.

Undesirable effects:

Uncommon: irritation of the skin and mucous membranes. Rare: allergic reaction (erythema, urticaria, dyspnoea, anaphylactic shock), ototoxicity when administered in the middle.


The first symptoms following accidental ingestion of Mefren-Colorless can be observed are probably due to the IPA in the product. These symptoms correspond to symptoms of ethanol intoxication. For local administration, the percutaneous absorption of chlorhexidine so low that the risk of overdose is virtually nonexistent. Given chlorhexidine only slightly from the digestive system is included, it is unlikely that accidental ingestion leads to systemic effects, except for massive ingestion of the product.
