Indications:
Proposed for disinfection of oral cavity and pharynx as supportive treatment (mild) infections such as pharyngitis, cough from pharyngeal irritation, gingivitis and glossitis.
Composition:
hydrochlor chlorhexidine. 5 mg - Aspartame. - Macrogol. 6000 - Sorbitol. - Arome. herbae wet. - Dimethicone. - Silic. dioxide. précipité. - Magn. stear. pro tabl. compr. una.
Posology and method of use:
1 lozenge slowly dissolve in the mouth, every 2 hours if necessary repeat with a maximum of 8 tablets per 24 hours. Pixidin is not suitable for babies and children under 6 years.

Contraindications:
Patients with a hypersensitivity towards chlorhexidine . Given the presence of aspartame, phenylketonuria is a contraindication.
Precautions:
Caution is advised in sensitive individuals.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Caution is advised when used during pregnancy and lactation, although the absorption of chlorhexidine is low, and thus the risk of harmful side effects is very small.
Undesirable effects:
In some cases, allergic reactions and irritation of the mucous membranes occur. (Reversible) discoloration of tongue, teeth and dental fillings may occur. A transient disturbance in taste and a burning sensation of the tongue are also possible.

Pixidin have no (adverse) effects.
Overdose:
There is no specific antidote. Gastric lavage may be performed. Since chlorhexidine very little is absorbed from the gastrointestinal system, the overall toxicity is low, there is only a local effect.
Interactions:
Chlorhexidine acts as a cationic compound and is therefore incompatible with anionic compounds.
