Paracetamol AB contains the active ingredient paracetamol which belongs to a group of medicines called analgesics (painkillers).


Paracetamol AB is taken to relieve pain and reduce fever. The tablets can be used to treat mild to moderate pain and/or fever (e.g., headache and toothache). Paracetamol AB tablets can be used by adults and adolescents, but are not suitable for use in children under 10 years of age.

The recommended dose is:


500 mg tablets


Adults, the elderly and young people over 16 years of age (> 55 kg body weight):


Take one to two Paracetamol AB 500 mg tablets at a time, up to 3000 mg per 24 hours.


The maximum daily dose of Paracetamol AB should not exceed 6 tablets (3000 mg).


Children between 10 and 15 years old (40-55 kg body weight):


Take one Paracetamol AB 500 mg tablet at a time, up to 2000 mg per 24 hours.


The daily dose should not exceed 4 tablets (2000 mg).


Not suitable for children under 10 years old.


1000 mg tablets


Adults, the elderly and young people over 16 years of age (> 55 kg body weight):


Take half a Paracetamol AB 1000 mg tablet at one time, up to 3000 mg per 24 hours.


The maximum daily dose of Paracetamol AB should not exceed 3 tablets (3000 mg).


Paracetamol AB 1000 mg tablets are not considered suitable for children under 16 years of age, and more appropriate formulations/strengths are available for this age group.


The dose should not be repeated more frequently than every 4 hours, and no more than 4 doses should be taken in any 24-hour period.


The tablet should be swallowed whole with plenty of water.


Paracetamol AB is not suitable for children under 10 years of age.


• There must be at least 4 hours between doses. • Do not take this medicine with other products containing paracetamol. • Do not exceed the stated dose. • Paracetamol AB can be easily broken along the score line for children. • If the pain persists for more than 5 days or the fever lasts for more than 3 days, if the symptoms worsen, or if additional symptoms occur, stop treatment and consult a doctor.


What Paracetamol AB contains


The active ingredient is paracetamol.


Each tablet contains 500 mg of paracetamol.


Each tablet contains 1000 mg of paracetamol.


The other ingredients are: Pregelatinized maize starch, highly dispersed silicon dioxide, hydroxypropyl cellulose (low viscosity), sodium starch glycolate (type A), talc, magnesium stearate.


Paracetamol AB must not be taken.


• if you are allergic to paracetamol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.


Warnings and precautions


Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Paracetamol AB:


• if you have kidney or liver disease (including Gilbert's syndrome or acute hepatitis).


• if you have a deficiency of a specific enzyme called glucose-6-phosphatase.


• if you suffer from hemolytic anemia (an abnormal breakdown of red blood cells).


• if you regularly drink large amounts of alcohol. Never take more than 2,000 mg daily.


• if you are asthmatic and sensitive to acetylsalicylic acid.


• in cases of dehydration or chronic malnutrition.
